Congratulations to the Orion Art Center's Joan Brace Scholarship Competition award winners. The yearly event is named for artist Joan Brace, a founding member of the OAC and advocate for young artists. Special thanks to our wonderful community partners, The Chadwick Group and Oxford Bank for supporting emerging artists. Click here for more about the students and their artwork.

This crayfish is one of the creatures students are cataloging as part of their field trip to test the health of the Paint Creek. The visit brought over a hundred 8th graders to the Orion Art Center for a unique lesson in enviornmental studies that tapped both the artistic and the scientific sides of their brains. A deer created from a vacuum canister and a chair of skis... the 2014 Re-create Recycled Art Show is full of imagination and innovation!  It's art created from stuff that could otherwise end up in the garbage. Artists transform trash into treasure in this popular show which has been extended at the Orion Art Center to run through June 28. Read more about the exhibit here. Or go to our gallery and see photos from this year's show.
