The Orion Community Drummers are a West African Drum Ensemble based in Lake Orion, Michigan with members from all over Southeast Michigan. We love to play rhythms from Guinea, Ghana, Senegal and other locations in Africa. We perform for festivals, charities and other good causes along with offering free monthly drum clinics for beginners on the first Sunday of each month.
Our Musical Director, Kofi Ameyaw, is originally from Ghana and currently teaching the African Drum Ensemble at Eastern Michigan University and Oakland University. Our performance group has been around since 2008 but some of us have been drumming informally with each other for 8 years.
